How to: Set a custom indent in Word 7.0.
Solution:
Select the text to indent. Select 'Paragraph...' from the 'Format' menu and click the 'Indents and Spacing' tab.
NOTE: The fastest way to adjust indents is by using the 'Formatting' toolbar. However, only one-half-inch increments are used. To use different settings not on the toolbar, set a custom indent.
1) Select the text to indent.
2) Select the 'Format' menu and select 'Paragraph...'. (The 'Paragraph' dialog box appears.)
3) Click 'Indents and Spacing' tab.
4) Do one of the following in the 'Indentation' group:
a) To set a custom left indent, type the desired value in the 'Left' box.
b) To set a custom right indent, type the desired value in the 'Right' box.
c) To set a hanging indent:
1] Select 'Hanging' from the 'Special' drop-down list box.
2] Type the amount to extend the hanging text over the remaining text in the 'By' box.
d) To indent the first line:
1] Select 'First Line' from the 'Special' drop-down list box.
2] Type the amount the first line is to be indented in the 'By' box.
5) Click 'OK'.
